The Tampa Bay metro area comes in 25th out of 25 in median income in a report from the U.S. Census Bureau. With a median household income below $50,000, "...the comparison feels more like a First World versus a Third World country," according to Bob Trigaux in his article published in the Tampa Bay Times. Even Detroit manages to do better than the Tampa - St. Pete metropolitan region.
Why? Our political leaders are professional politicians with little business experience and waste hundreds of millions of dollars on failed economic development schemes that transfer wealth from taxpayers to large donors and big corporate cronies.
No more taxpayer subsidies for Bass Pro Shops and sports stadiums.
